Paths to Personalisation in mental health (CTVT’s latest major educational DVD) continues to ‘fly off the shelves’. They have had more DVDs and booklets printed, and both can be seen at www.pathstopersonalisation.org.uk
CTVT was commissioned to produce an educational DVD for the mental health sector where increasingly the emphasis is on personal control of one’s life, one’s money and one’s direction. Chris Haydon produced for CTVT with Genevieve Collier and Dan Thurley making up the versatile production team. Genevieve previously made a successful short film for CTVT and the same client with the late and enormously popular Bee Harris; Dan Thurley designed the DVD architecture.
Filming took place around the country, from Liverpool and Skegness, to Great Yarmouth, Thurrock, Southwark, Bedfordshire, Sussex and Bristol. Stories and experience came from service users, CPNs, commissioners, brokers, and personal assistants. The argument in favour of this policy of Personalisation appears persuasive.
Production ran for a year and concluded in Spring 2010 with an extremely positive result, as this testimonial from the Department of Health project coordinator attests:
