CTVT’s BUSY YEAR

Our documentary on Mosques in Southwark, filmed with Somali, Nigerian and Turkish communities in the borough wil be launched in September; our London Young Voices project stimulating positive media from young people in Southwark celebrated the production of eighteen films, from four schools and a youth club, with a screening of  a selection of 5 films at BFI’s NFT2 on the South Bank in July and at a dedicated LYV event in June at the new Peckham Space; earlier in 2010 we finalised the DVD on the Personalisation of Mental Health Care for the Department of Health and uploaded files onto their website [www.pathstopersonalisation.org.uk]; in February we produced a film report about Cohesion & Engagement in the Borough, which was screened at Tate Modern; we have produced “A Nght To Remember”, a highly regarded film drama as part of a school Health & Social Care project on alcohol awareness with Rosebery School in Epsom in partnership with Surrey SATRO; with disability theatre company Freewheelers we prepared a mix of documentary and comedy dramas for their annual Dance & Film Night at Epsom College; for Frances Coleman and Coleman Projects, we produced a short film “DECISIONS“ written and directed by young people at Bede Youth Adventure Project in Bermondsey - local girl Millie Cook wrote the excellent, lively and pacey script about teenage pregnancy and peer pressure … and in addition the project realised a dance film, performed by four of the Bede girls, and a short vox pop video carrying comments on the project; we have planned and are delivering a series of three media Challenge short courses this summer … and have begun work on a DVD project with Southwark’s Traveller community.
