1 SOUTHWARK.TV
Monthly film
screening events and a TV discussion
series were added to the Southwark
spectrum of community media practice
alongside the ever expanding public
website at Southwark.TV [www.southwark.tv].
2 SOUTHWARK HOUR
Monthly discussion programmes for Community Channel, shot entirely by volunteers on modest equipment and edited at the Southwark.TV edit suite in Elephant & Castle. The initial series of six ended in June and was immediately followed by a request for a second series. The initial programme in July 2005 cross fertilised powerful material originated for CTVT's knife crime project [see below].
Later editions featured boys from a
Peckham Pupil Referral Unit taking
Brian Paddick of the Met Police
round a tough estate. The programmes
were produced and presented by Chris Haydon
and supported by volunteer crew.
Video editors were Chris Booth and
Florian Viale.
3 "KNIFE"
The Southwark DVD addressing knife crime
is an important new educational tool.
The project was coordinated by
Southwark Police as part of their
response to the phenomenon of knife
crime. It was launched at The
Barbican in late November and began
its distribution to schools with lesson plans and teacher notes. A drama from one prison and exceptional inmate participation from a second prison
led to the need for two DVDs in each
pack to deliver the full three hours of
drama, documentary and workshop media on offer. A second SOUTHWARK HOUR programme created from this footage
was produced in August 2005.
4 LEWISHAM PCT
CTVT produced a training film for PCT staff - new and current. Added to the package were two case study videos based on extensive interviews offered by members of the public who came forward to assist the production.
5 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S WEEK LAUNCH
The launch event of a local International Women's Week project in south London was filmed and edited by CTVT.
