Our Mission

MOTIVATORS – The CTVT vision in a nutshell:

“It is part of (our) credo through CTVT that personal as well as community growth and self confidence can be realised.”
Three Great Men

“Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.”
Goethe
“The media have a very important role for better humanity…”
H.H. The Dali Lama
The Community TV Trust is not affiliated to any one religion but would like to endorse the above.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.”
Nelson Mandela,
Inaugural Speech 1994

“An open-minded, fun and accessible community ‘TV’ service, run as a forum for debate, the supply of information and promotion of local initiatives, talent and needs, has a vital role to play in multi-cultural, multi-faith C21st century Britain. Digital/cable TV and new media will be playing their part in urban regeneration and social cohesion.”

Chris Haydon trained as a Life Coach in 2001 and notes the parallels with facilitating community and individual growth via media and production skills. In both spheres the first goal is unconditional self esteem. For those who engage with the production of video and other local media there are Five Steps that flow one into another – breakthrough comes at Step 3.

WHY CREATE LOCAL MEDIA ?

1. IT skills
2. career prospects
3. self-esteem
4. active citizen / information flow
5. engaged community / aware citizenry

In the famous pyramid of Maslow, the same thing applies – there is a breakthrough for the individual shifting up from living within or under a TELL CULTURE. He too specifies SELF ESTEEM as the commodity that truly empowers.

Fuelled by self-esteem, freed from Tell Culture,
Maslow speaks of the Self-actualizing person because the process never ends.
